Let us introduce ourselves
::
Mine isn’t a ‘rags to riches’
story. The second part has palpably eluded
me but the only pointer to the first element
is that I have been a self-starter, learnt
to swim and have come ashore to explore and
expand. Not half as easy as it sounds…First
found my ground as a trainee with a Franchisee
of Kotak Mahindra what essentially was a Retail
Finance Boutique. Went through the mill as
fast as I could, carefully took the cues from
the practical training in retail finance and
portfolio management. A quick succession of
career jumps gave me the confidence that I
had arrived. So, in 1993, I became my own
boss, established rather ambitiously a Project
Management Consultancy with financial expertise
as but one of the nuggets: Express
Advisory Service. As the stroke of
luck would have it, with a fantastic team
to work with, EAS has grown with record rapidity.
Within a span of mere three years, it has
an all-India operation andhas emerged as a
leader in its category. And more. Through
the diversification route, it’s today
a group of organizations with interests in
Eco-Tourism, Entertainment, Export/Import.
With the high tide of economy, EAS is cruising
through and as the Captain, I have so far
derived immense professional satisfaction
and goodwill from the corporate honchos to
the ordinary man in the jungle of Sunderbon.

Project idea, Planning & Implementation
Mine is a checkered career but to be candid,
I have no regrets. A Civil Engineer by profession,
I had quickly hopped on to the IT bandwagon
at its nascent stage. It proved to be a right
move at the right time. Because as Director
of Lords Infotech, I had a wonderful exposure
to many diversified activities in the highway
of Information Technology. At the moment,
my plate is full - as Head of Public Relations
for URAL in the auto ancillary segment; Director,
Limtex InfoTech Ltd., a BPO unit; and a Director
for Eco-Torism of the Express Group.
Bodhisatwa Ray ------ Planning
& Implementation
Nature fascinated me from my childhood days.
As I grew up, I could see for myself the wanton
destruction meted out to nature under the
guise of mankind’s progress. Not surprisingly,
I aimed for Environment Engineering &
Management at the post graduation level. ‘The
sky is the limit’ I found out as I embarked
on my career. While my current profile is
Technical Head (GIS & Software) for Lintex
Infotech, I had earlier worked for UNYO under
ECOSOC, ISMUN as National Coordinator; Vice-President,
GIS Projects and Management, Webster InfoTech
(P) Ltd; Director Technical, GST India. In
between, I became a Master Licence Holder
of Satellite & Ocean Current Data from
Custom Weather and a Member, Global Knowledge
Partnership (GKP) programme. My special interest
domain is Environment, Geo Sciences, National
Resource Management, Logistics Development
where I have gained significant experience
that has not only seen me involved with
divergent projects but as a regular contributor
of papers on the subjects like GIS, Remote
Sensing, Contour Mapping, Core Network Mapping,
Environmental Impact Assessment, Satellite
Imagery, to mention a few. I am delighted
to have an opportunity of working on the Sunderbon
Eco-World which I consider as a pioneering
Endeavour in our part of the world.
Anit Ghosh ---- Environment
& Technology
I was always fond of figure crunching. So
CA was just my alley way. Opened my khata,
as an Accountant with Maharashtra Explosives
Ltd., Nagpur in 1996.Got into systemization
and integration. Thus armed, joined Indian
Aluminum Company in 1999. Handled costing,
MIS, and became a core member for setting
up ORAFIN Software and Excise Integrated System
and for implementation of ISO 14001 and RE
Certification of ISO 9002. A year later, a
major breakthrough: to lead General Accounts
and Treasury Group for Timken India at the
Jamshedpur HQ where I handled final accounts
as per Indian GAAP and US GAAP, implemented
System Based Accounting with a custom-designed
integrated software ERP. But there’s
always a special challenge in a start up unit
like the Express Group where I am enjoying
the analytical jobs related to finance.
Sambit Kundu ---- Finance
A Mechanical Engineer by profession and an
MBA by choice from XLRI, like many of my fraternity,
I too started my career from scratch - as
a Trainee. In a behemoth like Tata Steel that
has a well planned HR System in place. As
a result, I gathered cross-functional exposure:
Maintenance, Operation, Quality Assurance
on one side of the spectrum, Marketing and
HRD on the other. All these stood me in good
stead as I started assuming greater responsibilities
for various projects of the organisation.
Like TQM through Taguchi concept, Process
Control, Value Engineering, ERP, Customer
Relationship , Marketing and even Union negotiations.
A feather in the cap I earned when I was appointed
a Certified ISO Auditor for the Company. And
then, the bug strung. ‘How about venturing
out on my own’ pondered I… Prepared
my blue print - and PoA. Which now sees
me as a Consultant/Advisor for various Corporate
Houses. In Corporate Advisory and Development
Service, Resource Utilisation, Human Resource
Management. Enough to keep me busy yet free
enough to spend quality time with my family.

Advertising was my first love. I got there.
It grew on me. For today you are ideating
on a FMCG product, the next thing is ‘consumer
insight’ into the purchasing pattern
of jewellery.. Never a dull moment. Nor the
‘wanted yesterday’ deadlines.
Worked on accounts as varied as Godrej, BPL
and Bengal Peerless Housing. Before long,
ten years had passed by. By then, another
passion grew: theatre. So I cast my lot with
a theatre group formed by eminent advocates
of the Calcutta High Court, took them to their
first ever performance overseas – Sree
Sree Ramakrishna - in different parts of the
UK and USA. I had tasted blood. Set up OurDreamz
Cine-Works, as the sole proprietor,
coordinator and creative director, all rolled
into one. Maiden venture: a 35mm short film:
Dreams Are made Of These. Rolled out a number
of telefilms in quick succession – with
success, if I may add. Currently doing a feature
film. In between had done TVCs, Corporates,
the works. The rest? Will it be history? I
wonder.
Anindya Ghosh ---- Creative
Maybe I am a typical allusive Bong. Fond
of art, culture, adda, film, music.
After doing B.A, majoring in English, I did
what my heart dictated. Film. That’s
where I wanted to be…Enrolled myself
at Chitrabani. Completed the course. Followed
it up with multi media. And then came the
sound of music. I tuned in for several musical
videos for Bappi Lahiri and Nachiketa. Dabbled
in producing documentaries, corporates, TVCs.
Two particular hits were Wait Until Death
on industrial hazards, shown at Indian and
International Film Festivals; the other, Patachitra
(scroll printing). In between my career had
panned quite a bit. I had doubled up as Assistant
Director for Suhasini Muley, Sonali Dutt,
Gautam Bose and Niraj Suji, a great learning
experience which I have utilised for several
TV serials, telefilms I have worked on including
Ami Tumi O se that was
nominated for Anandalok Awards 2005. Right
now, I am working on a major 140 minute feature
film and there are several telefilms awaiting
release.
Tathagata Bannerjee ----
Creative
Law runs in the family or it’s in the
gene, if you like. Understandably I had had
to hold the same brief. Being the son of a
Judge of the Calcutta High Court, Justice
Samarendra Nath Bhattacharya, I grew up in
such an ambit that it wasn’t difficult
to learn the ropes.
